ALBANY, Ore. -- A 17-year-old Oregon high school student is expected in court Tuesday after police thwarted a plot to blow up his school.
Authorities say Grant Accord's goal was to model the Columbine shootings, with some adjustments that would increase the death toll.
But police were tipped off by a 911 call saying there was going to be an attack, and Accord wanted his friend to film it.
On Friday, the bomb squad searched his mother's house. They found pipe bombs, bombs made from drain cleaner and homemade napalm and Molotov cocktails. The bomb squad uncovered six devices total.
"This person had taken substantial steps that are actually manufactured devices that would have been capable of causing significant injury or death," Capt. Eric Carter of the Albany, Ore., Police Department said.
At this point authorities have not released a motive but say they did find detailed plans, including a checklist and timeline modeled after Columbine.
