Math-O-Lympics Winners Announced

DAYTON -- The annual Dayton Public Schools Math-O-Lympics competition was held Dec. 8 at Thurgood Marshall High School, with students in grades four through eight vying to win in a number of numerical and structural competitions. Twenty-one schools competed in this year’s contests, and the following teams were victorious:

Fourth- through sixth-grade group

First Place   
  • World of Wonder PreK-8 School (Keith Tracy and Audrey Cleveland, coaches)
  • Fourth-grade students: Gordon Ross and Azuria Littlejohn
  • Fifth-grade students: Levester Broadnax and Khori Robinson
  • Sixth-grade students: DeFranco Nelms and Kayla Spearman

Second place   
  • Westwood PreK-8 School (Anna Wright and Leslie Cunningham, coaches)
Third place   
  • Eastmont PreK-8 School (Michael VanTine and Sylvia Ervin, coaches)
Fourth place   
  • Charity Adams Earley Girls Academy (Karen Jeffries, Kelli Vukovic,
  • Megan Christy, Chiara Brown, and Shannon Chester, coaches)
Fifth place   
  • Edison PreK-8 School (Robert Hundley, coach)
Sixth place   
  • Valerie PreK-8 School (Marcella Barrett and Dana Darling, coaches)

Seventh- and eighth-grade group
  • First place    Stivers (Jane Abourezk, coach)
  • Seventh-grade students:  Jonathan Farrow and Noah Foskuhl
Eighth-grade students:
