SPRINGFIELD-- A man locked up, after police said he went on a violent rampage, terrorizing drivers and ramming into vehicles.
Police said Cyrus Peck, 20, was wreaking havoc on Springfield streets Wednesday night, reportedly shooting at people and ramming a man riding his motorcycle.
Jennifer Newman said her husband is lucky to be alive. "I'm very thankful." Michael Newman has a fractured shoulder, but is going to be okay.
Newman was riding his motorcycle Wednesday night on Limestone Street when he was rammed by another car, and tossed off his bike.
"He's hurting. Jennifer said. His bike slid off and hit a concrete barrier. " She said.
Police said Peck was driving a red car that rammed into Newman, said Peck got out of his car, claiming he was a cop.
"He told my husband he needed to stay down on the ground and patted him down to make sure he was clean." Jennifer said.
Police said Peck is not an officer and is now facing charges of felonious assault and impersonating a police officer.
Police said Newman wasn't Peck's only victim. Just before the motorcycle crash, Police said Peck tried to run someone else off the road.
According to a 911 Call , the caller said:
"I just got shot at, kicked off the road, and my truck hit."
Police said Peck was armed with a BB gun, and chased down a man, claiming the guy owned him money.
The victim told the 911 dispatcher he didn't know the suspect.
"I've never seen this dude. He stopped and said I owed him 12,000 dollars and I was like dude, I don't have 12,000 to my name."
Jennifer said she's just glad no one was seriously hurt during Peck's rampage.
"I'm glad he's locked up and not out there doing that."
Peck was not charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
ABC 22 NEWS spoke to Peck's family (off camera) they claimed they don't know why Peck acted so strangely, or why he claimed to be a police officer.
