MONTGOMERY COUNTY -- Instead of just tagging victims of drug abuse, the Montgomery County Coroner's Office is now going to track the drugs.
An $8,000 grant will enable the coroner to test new variations of bath salts cooked up on the streets.
According to Montgomery County Coroner Kent Harshbarger, "Part of that problem is that the street chemists are constantly changing the product, and therefore our crime lab can't detect it, so we have to have the standard to compare it to the unknown sample."
Montgomery County's Crime Lab has become one of the best at detecting new strains of bath salts and helping to nail drug pushers.
