Most Ohio College Presidents Beat Median Salary; Wright State's Hopkins 4th in State

COLUMBUS (AP) -- A new survey shows that most public university presidents in Ohio make more money than the national median salary for the job.

Of the 10 state public colleges that responded to The Chronicle of Higher Education survey, nine of their presidents earned more than $441,392 -- that's the median compensation for the 212 public-university presidents in the survey.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that eight of the Ohio presidents make more than $500,000. Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee came in third-highest among public-university presidents in the nation. He made $1.9 million in 2011-12.

After Gee, the three public-college presidents in Ohio with the highest compensation were then-University of Cincinnati President Gregory H. Williams, Cleveland State University President Ronald M. Berkman, and Wright State University President David R. Hopkins.
