How to Save on Summer Camps

DAYTON -- If you haven't signed your kids up for camp this summer, it's not too late.

Parents like Bethany Dale have already registered her two oldest daughters for camp.

"They go to art camp through the PTA," she said.

It's expensive enough for one, but, even more expensive for two.

"My husband and I sit down and lay out all the information and we see what makes sense," said Dale.

Here's how you can save money:

- Timing: the best time to put your kids in camp is at the end of the summer, when some districts are already heading back to school.
- Financial aid: 90-percent of camps offer some kind of financial assistance.
-Tax Break: you can get a tax break on day camps if your child is younger than 12.

All this according to the American Camp Association.
