DAYTON -- The city of Dayton will have a new mayor next year. Incumbant Mayor Gary Leitzell lost Tuesday's runoff election. He only received about 24 percent of the vote. All night Leitzell was trailing behind his opponents, Dayton City Commissioner Nan Whaley and former Montgomery County Judge A.J. Wagner.
The two mayoral candidates with the most votes move on to the November General Election, which means Leitzell will not serve a second term.
Whaley took more than 50% of the votes. Wagner beat Leitzell by a slim margin of about 2%. Whaley and Wagner will face off in the November General Election.
