DAYTON -- A former Wayne High School Spanish teacher was indicted today on charges of sexual battery.
Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. said Kelsey L. Hartmann, 27, was charged after she was caught having sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old male Wayne student.
Heck said Hartmann and the student had committed sex acts on three occasions. She has since resigned from her teaching position, and will surrender her teaching certificate.
A Montgomery County grand jury returned an indictment of three counts Sexual Battery (involving a teacher). All counts are third-degree felonies. Hartmann is scheduled to be arraigned May 16.
âParents have a right to expect that when attending school, their children will be safe and protected," Heck said. "Teachers have a duty to not only help educate our children, but to serve as role models. This defendant betrayed her student and is a blemish on a noble profession.â
