DAYTON -- Some students get the red carpet treatment as a reward for their reading skills.
About a dozen students in grades Kindergarten through second grade from Meadowdale Pre K-8 School were escorted to a waiting limousine outside. The students were then chauffeured to McDonald's where they were treated to a complimentary Happy Meal for lunch.
The kids were the big winners in the Passport to Reading program.
"We're always doing some type of activity to increase their motivation to read especially at home.", Lauren Back, an early literacy specialist told us.
The students have been logging their reading time this entire school year.
