COLUMBUS â The father of a Bishop Watterson High School student is kicked out of a fundraiser dinner after confronting the bishop about the firing of Carla Hale.
The man tells our sister station in Columbus, he tried to hand the bishop a letter expressing his disappointment with her firing. Hale was fired after her motherâs obituary revealed she has a partner named Julie. She had been teaching at the school for 19 years.
Itâs become a divisive issue among Watterson students, parents and alumni. It apparently came to a head during this fundraiser Sunday.
âOur shepherd (the bishop) wonât get out in front of this issue in the press and protect the lambs on this issue,â the man is recorded saying. âI know you donât want me here.â Another man is heard saying, âYouâre interrupting our dinner.â To which the man kicked out says, âand this is a letter for the bishop. Donât touch me.â You can hear in the recording security tell the father heâs trespassing, even though he says he was invited to the dinner. The father says he was taken out so forcefully he went to the emergency room to get checked out afterward.
