Bishop Watterson Parent Tossed from Dinner for Confronting Bishop

COLUMBUS – The father of a Bishop Watterson High School student is kicked out of a fundraiser dinner after confronting the bishop about the firing of Carla Hale.

The man tells our sister station in Columbus,  he tried to hand the bishop a letter expressing his disappointment with her firing. Hale was fired after her mother’s obituary revealed she has a partner named Julie. She had been teaching at the school for 19 years.

It’s become a divisive issue among Watterson students, parents and alumni. It apparently came to a head during this fundraiser Sunday.

“Our shepherd (the bishop) won’t get out in front of this issue in the press and protect the lambs on this issue,” the man is recorded saying. “I know you don’t want me here.” Another man is heard saying, “You’re interrupting our dinner.” To which the man kicked out says, “and this is a letter for the bishop. Don’t touch me.” You can hear in the recording security tell the father he’s trespassing, even though he says he was invited to the dinner. The father says he was taken out so forcefully he went to the emergency room to get checked out afterward.
