DAYTON -- A hit and run accident and assault occurred yesterday, involving two individuals and their 9-month-old baby.
According to police reports, Jade Lohnes, 23, was dropping off food at her former boyfriend's sister's house when she saw the vehicle her ex, Charles Cunningham, 38, had been driving in front of the house.
Lohnes then drove to the rear of the house to avoid an interaction. Cunningham walked out of the house and
began yelling at her. Lohnes then left.
As she was driving on Catalpa Dr., Cunningham began driving behind her.
Lohnes told police Cunningham called her saying if she didn't pull over he was going to ram her even though their baby was in her car.
Lohnes states when she was approaching West Fairview Ave. Cunningham rammed the rear of her vehicle, causing her to enter oncoming traffic. Lohnes then swerved back into the right lane colliding with another vehicle and breaking it's rear axel.
Afterwards, Lohnes reported Cunningham exited his vehicle and attacked her, hitting her several times in the face.
Cunningham then took their baby out of her vehicle and put the child in his.
Cunningham proceeded to take out a metal baseball bat, smashing Lohnes' rear windshield. He then drove off.
Shortly after, Lohnes moved her vehicle to an intersection where she called police.
An officer on the scene called Cunningham, asking him to return the child. Cunningham said he would drop the 9-month-old off at his mother's house.
About an hour later, Lohnes' roommate picked the baby up at Cunningham's mother's house.
Cunningham was arrested later that evening after officers saw his van outside his mom's house. He has been charged with felonious assault, domestic violence and interference with custody.
