UPDATE: One Lane Reopens Northbound on I-71 After Semi Crash

DELAWARE COUNTY -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol says it has reopened one lane of traffic on northbound I-71 after a semi crash that killed an Ohio Department of Transportation worker.

Traffic is reportedly still very heavy in the area and crews are still cleaning up the accident scene.

UPDATE: ODOT Worker Killed in Semi Crash on I-71

DELAWARE COUNTY -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reporting that an Ohio Department of Transportation worker was killed today in a crash involving a semi on I-71.

OSHP reports that the ODOT worker was operating a backhoe on the right berm when the semi drove off the right side of the road and struck with the backhoe. The semi overturned and became engulfed in flames.

The worker, Lee Rizor, 27, of Mt. Gilead was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the commercial vehicle, Dwayne Allen Hill Sr., 59, of Ashland, Va., has been transported to the OSU Wexner Medical Center in critical condition.

Interstate 71 is closed northbound at the I-270 interchange. Southbound lanes have reopened.
 
This crash remains under investigation.
