UPDATE

Baker Middle School had one absent teacher Friday, after an alleged incident involving Scott Dammeyer, a math teacher at the school.

Dammeyer's being accused of duct-taping a student's hands to the desk.

"It was like, he was so strict, and stuff that they wouldn't even want to go to his class at times" said Stephanie Weyland, former Baker student.

Stephanie Weyland attended Baker Middle School as a teenager.  She says Dammeyer always had a reputation of his no-nonsense approach to managing his classroom.  While she's not surprised by the duct-tape allegations, she feels there's alternatives to handling students.

"The teacher needs to call the office and say, I need help down here, I know principals here, they will come and help, I know in high school, if you get the 'white button', you're out of school for three days" said Weyland.

Dammeyer's personnel file revealed the teacher had an incident that occurred in 2007, that resulted in him needing anger management training.

That 2007 report stated, "Your [Dammeyer's] anger became the focus and assisted in escalating a controllable situation into one of uncontrol"  The report also says Dammeyer violated board policy by failing to "ensure students are under supervision at all times".

Dammeyer had to complete anger management training prior to the 2007-2008 school year.

While details of what exactly led to the duct-tape incident are still under investigation, parents say the whole situation is worrisome.

"It calls for a little concern, you just don't know what takes place in our schools" said Beth Westmoreland, Baker Middle School Parent.

Scott Dammeyer will remain on paid administrative leave until the investigation is complete.

According to Dammeyer's personnel file, he was required to undergo anger management training in 2007 when he "became angry in class and it affected his ability to manage class."
