DAYTON -- ABC22/ FOX45 just obtained a copy of the detailed search warrant from the home of Takota Hasty, the 19-month-old child that died Monday at Children's Medical Center.
According to that warrant, Takota's mother Crystal Laurel and her boyfriend Dustin Rybak took him to the hospital Sunday covered in bruises and burn marks that were covered with make-up.
The report reveals that Hasty had bruises on his head, ears, arms, legs and torso. Doctors say he also had bleeding on the brain from inflicted trauma.
Here is the list of most of the injuries detailed in the report
-Abrasions on forehead
-Scratches down the right side of his face
-Burn marks and scratches on arm
-Redness and bruising on chest and hip
-Burn marks and bruising on legs and feet
-Bruising down back
-Possible cigarette burns on the body
It goes on to say Laurel told doctors she gave Hasty some Zofran and Ibuprofin and put him to bed. She says she came back later to find the child unresponsive. She tried CPR on her baby and then took him to Children's Medical Center.
Doctors told police that neither Laurel nor Rybak showed any emotion, but kept asking what the chances were that Hasty would survive. After learning the unlikeliness of survival Laurel did break down and cry.
"It takes coldhearted people to do something like that they're not right," said Takota's father Justin.
Justin says when he dated Laurel, he never saw any signs of abuse. He says they broke up in January and she started dating Rybak in February.
"I was with her for eight years and then we broke up for two months and all this happened within a two-month span," said Justin.
He says as the mother, she got to keep both of their kids. He says just the week before getting the phone call about Takota, he complained to Child Protective Services about his four year old son Trayton and the bruises on his forehead.
"He told me and the social worker Dustin took his head pushed it on the wall and they asked him 'Did he do that to the brother?' and he said 'yeah'," Justin said.
Prosecutors charged Laurel and Rybak with involuntary manslaughter, child endangering and tampering with evidence. Laurel got an extra charge of allowing child abuse. Takota's family says not having a murder charge added insult to injury.
"They robbed our cousin from his first bike ride, putting him on the school bus, going to college they robbed him of his life and for them to just get involuntary manslaughter is beyond me because they knew what they were doing otherwise it would not of covered up with makeup," Takota's cousin Jessica Hasty.
"He would always come to me when he wanted to lay down," said Justin. "I still have his blanket. He always wanted to lay with me,"
Takota's viewing will be Monday from 4-8:00 p.m at Dryden Road Pentecostal Church in Moraine. If you would like to donate to the family, you can do so at any Fifth Third Bank.
