KETTERING -- Fifth graders at Southdale Elementary on Dorothy Lane were wearing blue and planting pinwheels today in observance of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month.
Outreach specialist Carol Griesdorn of Montgomery County Children Services spoke to students at 10:15 a.m. about local issues in addition to advice about what students can do if they suspect someone is being abused or neglected.
In 2012 there were 4,702 investigated claims of child abuse or neglect. Montgomery County Children Services hopes to protect children through early intervention.
