Clark County Man Faces Child Endangerment and Theft Charges

SPRINGFIELD -- Sunday evening the Clark County Sheriff's Office was called to the home of Nichole Sexton.  Sexton told police she left her three children, ages nine and under, home with Matthew Chinn while she was gone.  Sexton said when she returned later she discovered Chinn was no longer at her home watching the children.

Chinn eventually returned to Sexton's home, and when confronted, he left the scene, claiming to go look for the children because they were hiding from him.

Some time later Sexton's friends Amber and Jeff Hale stopped in looking for Chinn.  Police said he had sold them a basketball, Razor scooter and skateboard in exchange for a $20 gas card.  During the exchange at a school parking lot, police said Chinn took $100 from Amber's purse.

Upon discovering what Chinn had done to the Hales, Sexton realized the items exchanged for the gas card were actually Easter gifts Sexton's children had received just last week.

The items were returned to the children and Chinn is now facing child endangerment and theft charges.
