JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP - Many schools are focusing more on bullying nowadays but here at Jefferson Senior High, the students are tackling the tough issues out front.
"Do you crack jokes? Let's be honest" said Anthony Barwick, facilitator.
It was a candid conversation...
"Why did you bully? said Anthony Barwick.
"I guess it made me feel better about myself" said a Jefferson High School student.
No topic was off the table...
"How many people believe, [people who consider themselves homosexual] become gay?" said Anthony Barwick.
The forum was part of a local program called, "No1 Has2 Know"
The program's designed to curb bullying by allowing students and parents a pathway to send anonymous tips through the program's website.
"The school now has somebody else reaching in to say, 'this is what's happening' they in return say, 'thank you for letting me know, we wouldn't have found out' because kids aren't going to tell them" said Tenechia Barwick, 'No1 Has2 Know' Founder.
The program began in 2011, and has been successful at reducing bullying at Jefferson.
"I just want to ask the questions that are prevalent in our high schools and in society" said Anthony Barwick.
From sex, economic status, the "N" word and sexual orientation. Each topic can easily lead to a form of bullying, yet for the group of 16 Jefferson High School students, each selected representing grades 9 through 12, they all addressed each topic head-on.
"If you see somebody, as soon as you see them, that's the first thing you do is judge them, you're trying to figure out exactly what they are and what they do" said a Jefferson High School Student.
"If you have to make yourself feel better by picking on somebody else, you're a coward to me" said a Jefferson High School Student.
Organizers hope the anti-bullying program will eventually expand to other Miami Valley schools.
