AKRON, Ohio (AP) -- A judge in Ohio must make a life-or-death decision in sentencing a self-styled street preacher for the murders of three down-and-out men lured by Craigslist job offers.
Judge Lynne Callahan in Akron scheduled sentencing for Tuesday afternoon for 53-year-old Richard Beasley after last week's vote by the jury that convicted Beasley recommended that he should be executed.
The judge has the option of reducing the sentence to life in prison.
Teenage co-defendant Brogan Rafferty was sentenced last year to life without parole. Because of his age, he wasn't eligible for the death penalty.
Three men were killed, and a fourth who was wounded testified at Beasley's trial.
