Roads Could Be Slick Tuesday

MONTGOMERY COUNTY -- The roads were wet Monday and when they freeze overnight, you could be in danger driving to work or school.

Most of the roads have been plowed, but any small patches of snow or puddles of water on the roads are at risk of freezing tonight when temperatures drop.

A last blast of "Old Man Winter" forced March to go out like a lion. It's a weather pattern that created some squirrely driving conditions.

"My concern is my girl has to drive my truck tomorrow morning, so I told her she needs to take her time and if possible she needs to take the street instead of the highway. She usually takes that," said Anthony Bolton of Dayton.

Bridges and overpasses are sure to refreeze when temperatures dip into the 20's overnight. Less traveled side streets and roads that haven't been heavily treated could also be slick.

"Drive slow. If you have four wheel drive you don't have four wheel stop," recommended U.D. student P.J. Velanger.

"I think people need to slow down. There are some dare-devils out there that go a little too fast," said Emily Godshall.

It's not just the roads that are going to get icy, sidewalks and driveways, especially those that haven't been shoveled, could make getting the morning newspaper a slippery feat. That's why it's a good idea to lay down salt, before the slush gets the best of your balance.

"Everybody just needs to be careful. Take your time and everything will be alright," said Bolton.

If you notice any slick spots when you head to work or school, we want to know about it.. Let us know where they are on Facebook.com/ABC22Dayton or Facebook.com/FOX45Dayton.

MIAMI TWP. -- With temperatures expected to dip into the mid-20s tonight. the roads will become more hazardous.

The main roads and most of the side streets in Montgomery County are clear of snow, but they are wet. When the temperature drops overnight, there will be a danger of refreezing.  You will want to drive slow  and watch out for slick spots or black  ice if you're out on the roads tonight.  You will definitely want to be careful tomorrow morning on your way to work.

"My concern is my girlfriend needs to drive my truck tomorrow," said Anthony Bolton, of Moraine, "I would rather her take the regular roads because she usually takes the highway."

It's not just roads that are at risk of refreezing, sidewalks and driveways could also get icy.  It's a good idea to lay down some salt, if you haven't already.
