CLARK COUNTY -- A portion of I-70 likely will be renamed in honor of Sheriffâs Deputy Suzanne Hopper, who was killed in the line of duty.
State Senator Chris Widener (R- Springfield) announced on Tuesday that legislation was approved by the State Senate that would name a portion of the highway in Clark County for the fallen deputy.
âDeputy Suzanne Hopper was killed in the line of duty while selflessly protecting the citizens of Clark County,â Widener said. âWhile we are very saddened to have lost such a dedicated officer, we hope to honor her sacrifice by naming a portion of this major Ohio thoroughfare in her honor. Every time residents of Ohio and other states drive on this portion of Interstate 70, we will remember her service and celebrate her life.â
When signed by Gov. John Kasich, the Deputy Suzanne Hopper Memorial Highway will be located along Interstate 70 between Interstate 675 and Enon Road. Hopper was killed in the line of duty on New Yearâs Day while investigating a domestic dispute.
