DAYTON -- A man who was driving drunk and caused a deadly five car crash, will now spend 13 years in prison.
The judge handed down the maximum sentence to 26-year-old Joseph McGraw, and the victim's family now hopes they can find some closure.
"He was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather and husband," said Dan Halsall, victim's son.
Halsall is talking about his 68-year-old father Robert.
He was killed in a crash last July on State Route 725.
"He was a very, very good man, he was loved by a lot of people, a lot of people," said Halsall.
Police arrested McGraw after he ran from the scene of the crash.
He was charged and plead no contest to nine different counts, including aggravated vehicular homicide and driving drunk.
McGraw stood before a judge Tuesday, begging Robert's family for forgiveness.
"I made a mistake and completely ruined two families," McGraw said, "One was my own, I beg that you can forgive me but most of all I hope that you can find it in your heart to ask god to forgive me."
But the words weren't enough for the Halsall family.
"Every other time I've seen him in court and other instances he's done nothing but smile, so do I honestly think he's remorseful, no," said Halsall.
Remorse or not, for the Halsall's though, the sentencing means they can finally move on.
"It's been very rough since he's been gone and obviously this isn't going to bring him back it's at least a form of closure," said Halsall.
Immediately following the sentencing, McGraw was taken into custody to start his 13 year prison sentence.
After that he has three years of probation.
