Dozens of Officers Called to Control Crowd at University of Dayton

DAYTON -- All available Montgomery County police crews were called to the University of Dayton to control a large disturbance around 4 a.m. Sunday.

Officers say the entire 400 block of Kiefaber Street was packed with people when they arrived.  They believe there were at least 1,000 people on the street; mostly UD students.

Several people were jumping on cars, smashing windows, and throwing beer bottles.  About a dozen cars were damaged, including a University of Dayton police cruiser.

No one was injured and officers arrested one person who was not a student.

Officers issued several citations for public intoxication.

Dayton Police crews are meeting to discuss a plan of action for the remainder of the day.

University of Dayton officials say all campus activities will continue as planned.
