DAYTON -- An elderly man said he was robbed after offering to give a man a couple of dollars for food at the RTA Hub on South Main Street.
The alleged victim told police that another man, described as a black man in his 50s with a mustache and brown hat, had robbed him after asking for money to buy food. Police had recognized and detained the suspect before meeting with the alleged victim.
The suspect was known to police and identified as Donnie K. Jones. He searched, police said they found $43 in his pocket. Police said that much money is unusual for Jones to have and they asked him where he got it.
Jones told police a man had just given it to him.
The alleged victim told police that after taking the money, Jones said he would be right back.
When asked again what happened, Jones told police the elderly man gave him money to buy heroin. Jones told officers he was going to buy some heroin for the man and some crack cocaine for himself. Police said the money was returned to the elderly man.
