CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- A semi truck driver is recovering at Miami Valley Hospital after crashing in Champaign County. It happened late Monday night on Route 4.
The driver was traveling southbound when he went off the road, hit a guardrail and crashed into a ditch. Firefighters say when they arrived, the semi was fully engulfed in flames.
A neighbor who heard the crash called 911 and pulled the driver out just in time. The driver was flown by medical helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
There was some fuel that spilled from the truck into a creek. Hazmat crews were called out to clean it up. The EPA was also notified.
