Ruskin Elementary Student Accused of Pushing Music Teacher

DAYTON -- An elementary school student is facing assault charges and has been suspended after his music teacher said he pushed her.

The child, whose age and grade was not listed, has been suspended for 10 days from Ruskin Elementary School, and school officials are recommending expulsion, "due to a long list of prior violations with school policy."

According to a police incident report, a music teacher asked the child to put his cell phone away but he did not cooperate. Police said she tried to grab the phone from him. That's when the child allegedly balled his hands into fists and then pushed the teacher in her chest and swore at her.

She told the child to leave the classroom, and then escorted him to the office.

Before police arrived, family members had picked up the child and took him home. The child's probation officer recommended schools officials call police to made a report.
