UNDATED -- National health officials say a deadly superbug is spreading in hospitals and nursing homes across much of the country. But they stress the bug is not in the general public yet.
We checked here in Ohio to see if the antibiotic resistant bacteria had taken hold here, but were told there are no cases of CRE in the Buckeye State.
Ohio hospitals and nursing homes are required to report two or more cases of the superbug in any one health care facility.
According the the Centers for Disease control, CRE kills half of the people who catch it. The CDC urges all patients in hospitals and nursing homes to make sure anyone who comes in contact with you, washes their hands with soap and water before touching you.
