Baby Monitor used as a Crime Fighting Tool

DAYTON- A man was arrested after breaking into a garage, and the victim said a baby monitor helped to catch the suspect in the act.

Michael Thompson, is facing charges of breaking and entering, and possessing  criminal tools, after he was arrested Friday morning on Edgar Avenue.

Michael Kingery says  his mother  woke  up  early Friday morning after  hearing a commotion on their baby monitor.

The noise was coming from their garage.   "She woke up my dad Terry and  they called 911." He said.

Kingery's  parents put the baby  monitor in the garage,  because they've been targeted before.

"At least four times in the last three years. It's a shame, my mom and dad are  good, hard working people."

Kingery said his  dad knew eventually they would catch someone in the act.
"He keeps the baby monitor on, all the time.  One is in the garage, the other in their bedroom.  Any sound,  and they're on it."

Friday  morning, their crime fighting tool paid off, as police came and swarmed their garage.

Police said,  inside  they found Michael Thompson,  hiding under a boat.

Thompson's  arraignment hearing is scheduled  for  Monday.
