MADISON TOWNSHIP -- A Butler County family is relying on the Red Cross for shelter after having to escape their burning home.
The fire broke out Monday morning, destroying the Madison Township home's kitchen and leaving the rest of the house with smoke damage.
Firefighters say it was a tricky fire to fight.
"Being cold weather and everything, below freezing, we don't have any water in this area so we had to use tanker ops for that.", Kent Hall from the Madison Township fire department explained.
Investigators are now trying to pinpoint the cause of the fire.
