Drunk Woman Charged with Assault for Kicking Officer in Knee

SPRINGFIELD -- A woman was arrested early Friday morning after police said she kicked an officer in the knee.

Amber Vollmer, 25, has been charged with assault and resisting arrest after police responded at 2:56 a.m. Friday to 1303 Clifton Avenue in Springfield because a woman was reportedly "drunk and causing problems."

Officers said they pulled up and saw through an open door of a residence Vollmer pushing a man, then grabbing him in the face and pushing him again, all the while being told by him and another female in the residence to stop.

Police tried to restrain Vollmer but she reportedly screamed at them to get out. Police told her to calm down but she wouldn't. Instead, she was very aggressive.

An officer said he tried to escort Vollmer to another room but again she screamed at the officers and then "intentionally kicked me in the right knee," the officer wrote.

The officer said he took Vollmer to the ground to place her under arrest, but Vollmer continued to struggle. Another officer pepper sprayed her, and Vollmer was then taken into custody.

She was transported to the Clark County Jail and charged with assault and resisting arrest.
