KETTERING -- Some area student athletes will be hitting the lanes this weekend with their eye on a possible state championship.
Fairmont special needs students from elementary to high school will try to win big at the Special Olympics Regional Bowling on Saturday. There will also be athletes competing in track and swimming.
"It's fun and it's unique and it's showing you you have the ability to do your own kind of physical stuff," Fairmont bowler Liz Gilmore told us.
Alisa Kezminski likes the competition, but also likes the social aspect of the game. "I like hanging out with my friends and getting to know different people," she said.
The Fairmont Firebirds will be joined by schools from all over the Miami Valley at Beaver-Vu Bowling Alley in Beavercreek for a chance to go the state finals.
