CLEVELAND -- You have a few hours left to enjoy the health benefits of National Hugging Day.
We all should "hug it out" every now and then. It may sound corny or like something you don't normally do but your body actually reaps some health benefits from the simple gesture.
Hugging can lower stress levels and cause a surge of "feel good" brain chemicals.
"We can detach ourselves from people and get locked up in our own worlds and those worlds aren't always so great. Just the physical act of hugging somebody really does connect us with them and it sort of let's down some of our defenses. You know, we get tensed up when we are in our heads," said Joe Rock.
National Hugging Day started in 1986. It's also celebrated in Canada and England, Australia, Poland and Germany!
