ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. -- Two high school teachers have been arrested on charges they had sex with students.

Detectives say the alleged misconduct happened on an overnight beach trip.

"Very nice teachers, really passionate teachers. I feel really shocked about what happened," former student  Gabriel Yuretta said.

Yuretta graduated from South Hills High School in 2014. He was taught by both teachers who are accused of having sex with students. Melodie Lippert, 38, has been teaching for the district for 15 years and 30-year-old Michelle Ghirelli has been teaching for five years.

They were arrested Saturday on multiple charges including sex with a minor and providing alcohol to minors.

"I was disgusted. I was in shock," former student Cristal Montez said.

Deputies say the two teachers met up with students a couple months ago during a camping trip in San Clemente California. The trip was not a school-sponsored event.

One of the students is 18, the other is a minor. Both students go to South Hills High School.

Covina Valley Unified School District says all parents have been notified after another teacher reported it on Friday.

"We have to take these allegations very seriously, and so as soon as we heard about this, we contacted the West Covina Police Department and started working with their detectives immediately," said Michelle van der Linden of Covina Valley School District.

Both teachers have since posted bail.
