MOUNT STERLING, Ky. -- What Brandon Carl loved as much as anything else was watching his daughter, Kennedy, play basketball.

He was at her game on Monday night before he left for work. He lost his life after the overpass he was working on collapsed that night.

On Tuesday, Kennedy took the court again, to honor her father.

Brandon Carl's daughter made a decision to play her heart out Tuesday night, despite having lost her father less than 24 hours earlier.

During the game, it was evident that the pain was still very fresh. Number 21 hit the basketball court surrounded by her team. There was a lot of support in Mount Sterling for the teen who traveled from Bracken County to Montgomery County High School.

With each shot, it was evident that Kennedy was playing in honor of her father.

Her grandmother said that Brandon was a family man who loved seeing his daughter play.

Though his death is still fresh, Kennedy was determined to play through her pain and continue to make her dad proud.

"He was proud of her, very proud of her," Brandon Carl's mother, Sharon Frye, said. "He loved all his kids. It was neat to look across the yard and see him hugging them or kissing them or he would come in the house and pick them up and hug them or kiss them, always wanting to love on them. He just loved his children. I just hope they know how much he loved them. He was just such a good provider."

Kennedy's family was in the stands to support her and watch her play. During the game, there was a moment of silence in Brandon Carl's memory.
