KETTERING -- A dog falls through the thin ice in Kettering, and fire crews come out the rescue the pup.
It happened at the Kettering Rec Center around 3:00 Saturday afternoon. We're told the dog and its owner were out for a walk when the pooch got away and fell into a hole in the ice.
"i was worried that the owner would try to go in after the dog, that's what you think of first. then i saw some kids coming around the pond and i thought oh man, i hope they don't go in," said Bruce Bowling of Beavercreek.
People who witnessed the rescue say it should serve as a reminder to all dog owners to keep their pets on a leash, because you never know when something will catch the dog's attention, causing them to run off.
