MIAMI VALLEY-- Restaurant Week runs from Sunday January 18, to January 24th, and this year the Miami Valley Restaurant Association is hoping more diners participate.

Organizers say the 2014 winter event was slow going because of the harsh weather.

"We're wanting this year to be a lot better than last year because the weather was so tough so we had to extend," said Amy Zahora of the Miami Valley Restaurant Association.

"It definitely affects business when the temperature is near freezing," said Kim McCarthy, Co-Owner of Zetland Street, a restaurant in it's first year of business in downtown Bellbrook.

McCarthy wanted to be a part of restaurant week to help boost business during the slow month of January.

"It's a great way to get new people to come in especially when we are so new, there's a lot that haven't tried us yet," she said.

El Meson, a restaurant that has been a part of restaurant week since it's inaugural year, also felt the heat from the 2014 deep freeze, and talked about how important a good forecast is in getting diners to their tables.

"Its almost like we have to reinvent the wheel again by getting a new customer base to try us," said Owner Bill Castro.

This restaurant week, 49 restaurants are fixing special entrees at three price points; $20.15, $25.15, $30.15.

The bottom line doesn't only affect business, it also affects local charities.

One dollar of each restaurant week entree sold will benefit SICSA.
