Burned Puppy Gets Photo Shoot for Fundraiser

SPRING HILL, Tenn. -- Some dogs badly burned in a fire will make an appearance in a calendar alongside firefighters in Tennessee, and all for a good cause.

"You spend a couple minutes getting to know the dogs. Every dog is different. Every personality is different," animal photographer Michelle Conner said.

Conner says perfection is telling a story with a single image.

"You make really weird, obnoxious noises during the photo sessions to get their attention," Conner said.

And rarely does the story she's telling mean more to her than when puppies like these are her subjects.

"These pictures make a world of difference to get their story out," Conner said.

Nearly a month ago, workers with Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital in Franklin, Tennessee, said they began care of three small puppies with third-degree burns, after a breeder's heating lamp caught fire.

"They've definitely gone through a lot of pain. But as long as they're getting love and attention, that's all they're about. They're not worried about what happened yesterday," said Shawn Aswad of Snooty Giggles Dog Rescue.

The dogs are now doing so much better. The three puppies are now known as the blues brothers. Not named Jake or Elwood after the characters in the classic comedy. They're now named Yahto, Mavi and Indeever -- all words meaning blue.

"Their blue eyes just stole everybody's heart," Aswad said.

Only Yahto's at the calendar photo shoot for animals with special conditions. He’s sharing the spotlight with firefighters.

Money raised from the calendars goes toward further treatment for the burned puppies.

"Not a lot of jobs out there that you can say make a difference that's something I'm passionate about it. I love to do that," Conner said.
