DAYTON -- With a yes, and another yes, Alexis Gomez is going to Hollywood. The Centerville native is 22 and has been singing for years.
At SouthBrook church, folks came to support Alexis Gomez by the hundreds.
It was the 22 year old's big audition on American Idol, and she delivered. Fox did a longer, feature story on the self-described hippie, country artist, and her local fans went wild.
"Just to be here and watch it with everyone. I was so nervous at first, because I didn't know what they were going to show... if I would look silly. They've all been on this journey with me,"
Alexis won over just two of the three judges. Keith Urban wasn't sold. Alexis told him she would practice really hard before she gets to Hollywood.
"She is a wonderful person besides that artistic part that she has," said SouthBrook member, Sandra Calle.
"Whenever she like comes over she's really nice to me," said Trinity Weaver, 11, also a church member.
Young girls are not the only ones who look up to her, her parents are just in awe of her accomplishments.
"We know its real but It doesn't feel real, just sometimes seeing her up there it just feels crazy," said Alexis' Mom, Angi.
"It's crazy because we're not doing anything and we're scared to death. We're just standing there sweating, I don't know how she does it," said her father, Sol.
"Now going to Hollywood I've got to keep another secret," Alexis said. "But I'm so excited for what's ahead of us."
Alexis goes to Hollywood the first week of February. Be sure to tune into Fox 45 to cheer her on!
