DAYTON -- Residents wanting to better their community gathered today for a grant writing workshop.
The workshop was the first of several hosted by the city of Dayton.
The grants will help community members communicate with city officials about their neighborhoods.
Participants came up with several initiatives to make their community a better place to live, including starting community websites.
"We are encouraging 'do it yourself' projects here in the city that would help neighborhoods to clean up liter, improve parks, or other projects that really help beautify your neighborhood,"said Dayton Community Planner Connie Nisonger.
Once they're done writing the practice grants, they then start talking about how they can actually implement their plans.
