DAYTON -- Good Samaritans come to the rescue of an injured dog along I-75, but the dog needs more help to fully recover.
Renee Parcell of Dayton said she was driving along I-75 when she saw a severely injured dog. She stopped and picked up the dog, a collie, and transported it to an emergency veterinary clinic.
Crash, as the dog was affectionately named, was diagnosed with two broken legs. Parcell paid for his initial treatment but Crash needs an additional $6,000 of rehabilitation.
Parcell enlisted the help of her friend, Beth Honaker, who called the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center. Under the care of the ARC, Crash is beginning his recovery.
The ARC has committed $1,000 from its Tiny Tim Fund to aid in Crash's recovery. The ARC also is asking for donations, and if no one comes forward to claim Crash, he will be put up for adoption.
To donate to the Tiny Tim Fund or for more information about Crash, call 937-898-4457 or email AnimalShelter@mcohio.org. The ARC is located at 6790 Webster Street, Dayton. Donations can also be made here.
