Police and Clergy Together Program Taking Applications

DAYTON -- The Dayton Police Department is accepting applications for the second Police and Clergy Together (PACT) program, a special initiative building partnership between police and the faith-based community. PACT members will focus on three areas:
 
• Praying for police officers along with the community;
• Building and improving relationships with police officers;
• Serving citizens and officers in need through pastoral call-outs.
 
Attendance of the Police Department’s PACT Academy is required for participation in the PACT initiative. The academy consists of three-hour training sessions held on Thursdays at 2 p.m., beginning February 28 and concluding in early May (at least eight sessions must be attended).
 
Academy topics include:  peace officer roles; arrest laws; the dispatch process; special victims unit; children’s services; victim assistance; property crimes and others. Along with these topics, PACT Academy attendees will have the opportunity to spend a training session at a firearms range, which will include shooting a firearm.
