DAYTON -- People around the world will be honoring Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday and there are several events happening here in the Miami Valley.
The annual MLK Memorial March starts at 9:30 Monday morning at the Charles Drew Health Center on West Third Street. This year's theme for the annual celebration is "The struggle can be won." There will also be televised coverage of President Obama's second inauguration starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Dayton Convention Center.
The march and rally will cause some downtown streets to close temporarily, including: West Third Street, Broadway, Edwin C. Moses, Perry Street, Wilkinson, Ludlow, Robert Drive, South Main and Fifth Street. Police may close other side streets if needed.
Other Martin Luther King Jr. events today include a breakfast at the golf club at Yankee Trace in Centerville. That is at 7:30 Monday morning.
Monday night, an evening celebration will be held in the Lebanon Junior High School auditorium beginning at 7 p.m.
