COLUMBUS -- The Ohio fire marshal says deadly fires were down this past year.
Last year, there were 106 deaths, down 17 percent from 2011.
Officials say the numbers are down because of the mild winter we had last year.
The State Fire Marshals Office says the cause of most deadly fires are unknown, but in cases where a cause could be determined, smoking and cooking were to blame.
