DAYTON -- A Dayton man is locked up, accused of raping an 8-year-old year girl, who lived in his neighborhood.
Craig Turpin, 44, is facing rape charges. He's locked up in the Montgomery County Jail.
Police said he raped a neighbor's daughter multiple times over a two- to three-month period.
"He befriended the mother, and the rest of the family," Dayton Police Sgt. Larry Tolpin said.
Detectives said he molested the 8-year-old when her mother was at work, and the little girl was supposed to be watched by an older sibling.
Turpin lived on West Norman Avenue. Neighbors who live close by are disgusted.
"Eight years old. That is so sad. You have got to watch your kids," one neighbor said.
Police said Turpin was already a registered sex offender prior to this arrest.
Turpin was charged with having sex with a teen in 2000.
