TROTWOOD -- There is a void in people's heart's on Monday as Trotwood officer and honorary Mayor Dave Yaney is laid to rest.
Residents of Drexel worry how Yaney's hometown will go on without him.
They say he made such a difference in the community.
"He came and he cleaned this neighborhood up," said Drexel resident, Shiley Spurlock.
Nearly two dozen people gathered for a candlelight vigil in Drexel Monday night for Officer Yaney. Trotwood officers in uniform also stopped by.
They describe their mentor as more than a hero, but a legend.
The 33-year-veteran of the Trotwood Police Department was killed last week while on his way to work.
