TROTWOOD -- Hundreds of mourners come to pay their respects to a fallen Trotwood police officer.
"The mood is very well set with rain," said Jody Odell, who worked with Dave Yaney at one point.
The falling rain, mimicking the tears of hundreds mourners at Phillips Temple in Trotwood.
"Very jovial, never got to work with him back in the field, but I know he was very highly regraded and respected by his fellow officers," said Odell.
Dozens in uniform and patrol cars came to pay their respects to the 33-year veteran of the department. Officer Yaney was killed on January 9, 2013, after he lost control of his pickup, plunging into the creek below.
Those who knew him say he had a great sense of humor, "his trademark that I recall was his Trotwood police ball cap and his toothpick," said Odell.
Funeral services are Monday at Phillips Temple at 11 a.m.
He will be laid to rest at Cedar Hill Cemetery on Wolf Creek Pike in Trotwood.
