DAYTON -- A fire breaks out Tuesday night at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. It started in the mechanical room in the basement, after a transformer caught fire.
Smoke spread to the first floor, forcing patients in the ER and ICU to be evacuated to other rooms. Fortunately, the hospital had already practiced this emergency procedure.
"For those family members out there, they don't need to be concerned about their loved ones," said Asst. Chief Jeff Payne, "The hospital did a very good job at keeping them safe."
"As far as hospital protocol, they're on top of they're game," Payne continued.
It took crews about 45-minutes to put out the flames. No one was injured, but the ER was briefly shut down as crews removed the excess smoke.
