DAYTON -- With the beginning of a New Year there are always a lot of firsts. For one Dayton family, that means welcoming a new addition to their family. Not their first child, but it was a first for Dayton.
"She has his head, and his feet and his hands. Ears are kind of a mix, the rest is kind of a mix, too also," said Ashley Martin as she admired her beautiful bundle of joy. Kailynn Stoltz is Miami Valley Hospital's very first baby of 2013.
"I watched it drop," said Martin, referring to the famous ball in New York City's Times Square. An hour and a half later, Kailynn came into the world.
"I was just glad she was okay," said the Mom, telling us she registers 8 lbs. 4 oz.
"None of us even knew until after she was born and one of the nurses came in and brought in the bracelets and said she was the first one."
Mom was expecting and actually hoping for her arrival sooner than New Year's Day.
"I've been pregnant long enough. I'm done being pregnant. Today tomorrow, whatever."
Kailynn's older brother is just 17 months. Ashley says Kailynn will be her youngest, because six children bring plenty of joy.
"It gives me a reason to keep going and gives me something to do I guess, you know what I mean? It gives me a purpose," said Martin.
