He says if you haven't got your car checked yet in this weather you may want
to.
"The levels on your antifreeze and make sure that oil full and clean and
that the air on your tires are very important and also the tread on your tires
is very important also because without tread it can't shred the snow,"
said Miller.
Parts of the Miami
Valley saw anywhere from
2 to 4 inches of snow fall today. The weather is creating some dangerous
traveling conditions for drivers.
"When the roads turn bad you need to be four car lengths for every ten
miles per hour you are traveling so it sounds like a lot but whenever you start
to stop and you hit a sheet of ice and you start sliding your're gonna wish you
had more room between you and the vehicle in front of you, said Sgt. David
Robison, from the Ohio State Patrol.
Before you hit those roads take these steps to ensure a safe ride.
"Leave with plenty of time give yourself enough time to get where you are
going. Half hour earlier than normal go head and do that that way that way if
the roads are bad and u have to drive a little slower and be more cautious that
way u not late for something," said Sgt. Robison.
Just in case you do get into an accident or slide off the road have an emergency car kit to help you out until the proper officials get there.
"A bottle of water just in case. Make sure your cell phone charger is in there just in case your cell phone battery is low, a blanket and a few things like that because if you are stranded at least you got something to keep you warm and fluids to keep you going for a while until someone finds you," said Miller.
