DAYTON -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol says they have arrested 967 people so far this year while operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Montgomery County Prosecutors want to reduce that trend by offering a free ride home during the holidays.
The program is called 'Arrive Safe' where bar patrons can call for a free cab ride home anywhere in Montgomery County.
"It's very difficult in the moment to reason with a drunk person to get them to accept a ride home. The best thing to do is plan ahead," said Lt. Wendy Stiver with the Dayton Police Department.
A free cab ride is for up to $50.
If you need service, call Arrive Safe at 449-9999.
They'll be giving rides December 23, 24, 28, 29, 30 and New Year's Eve.
The rides run from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
