DAYTON--Miami Valley schools claim they are erroneously on a "no safety plan list" and assure parents and the community, school safety plans are in place.
Ohio Attorney Mike DeWine said every school in the state is required to submit a safety plan just in case, something as horrific as a school shooting would happen.
Tuesday, the AG's office released a list of schools in Ohio who have not submitted a safety plan. There are 100 facilities on the list, 10 are in the Miami Valley.
ABC 22/ FOX 45 investigated and discovered most of those local schools are on the list by mistake, and they've already submitted plans.
Some buildings like the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center didn't know they had to submit a plan, but after ABC 22/ FOX 45 contacted them, officials said are now working to correct the problem.
"We think having a plan can make a difference, and if we can save some lives , its just imperative that we do it."

Safety plans include a floor plan, that would help law enforcement, who may not know the lay out of the school.
"If the officer is not familiar with that school, he can look and see if there is an active shooter in room 202, or in the library, he can pull it up the plan and see where the library is." DeWine said.
"Its very important to have something in place in case something would happen." Mother Denise Benight said.
"I don't want what happened in Connecticut to happen here." She said.
